Free meal delivery services helps residents during Covid-19 crisis

Free meal delivery service helps residents during coronavirus pandemic

DURHAM, N.C., June 25, 2020 – As the world continues to face the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, transit providers, restaurants, and other essential businesses have been tasked with providing critical goods and services to their communities in a safe and reliable fashion. Ford Mobility subsidiaries* TransLoc, Ride Systems, and DoubleMap, provider of transit planning and software solutions, announced today its technology is powering free restaurant-delivery service during the COVID-19 crisis, through its partnership with Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN).

“We are doing everything we can to help our community during this unprecedented time,” Diana Kotler, Executive Director of Anaheim Transportation Network, said. This microtransit service will not only deliver meals to those in need, it will also boost our local economy and hopefully create more resilience as we turn the corner to bounce back from this crisis.”

ATN’s Free Rides Around the Neighborhood microtransit service, powered by TransLoc, Ride Systems, and DoubleMap software, is delivering food to residents within the program’s service area in concert with local residents. The goal of the delivery service is to help stimulate the local economy, which relies heavily on tourism due to its close proximity to Disneyland Park. The software is helping ensure workers at local restaurants, as well as ATN drivers, remain employed during this incredibly difficult time.

“Transportation is crucial to solving community issues,” said Ron Cygnarowicz, VP of Clients for TransLoc, Ride Systems, and DoubleMap. “We are humbled to serve our communities during difficult economic times and when public health is at risk. It is a testament to the importance of providing mobility for all.”

Residents within FRAN’s service area can place food orders from several vendors located inside the Anaheim Packing House, a local food hall, using the FRAN app. Like other food delivery services, requests are assigned to the nearest available driver. The no-cost structure of FRAN’s service has been maintained for the delivery service to help alleviate financial burdens caused by COVID-19.
