Justin Rees Association for Commuter Transportation 40 Under 40 Award Recipient

Recognized for developing programs that shift behavior and create long-lasting change

SEATTLE, Wash., November 12, 2019 – Today the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) honored Justin Rees, CEO of Ride Systems, TransLoc & DoubleMap, with the 2019 “40 Under 40 Award.” ACT toasted the accomplishments of transportation demand management (TDM) professionals and industry leaders at a ceremony during its annual TDM Forum in Seattle. Winners were selected for their commitment to solving the transportation and mobility challenges facing their communities and organizations.

“The future is very bright for TDM with this impressive group of talent rising up and changing the way we look at addressing transportation and mobility. The work of these ambitious leaders makes a very real difference in the quality of life for commuters, and their creative solutions are improving the sustainability of their communities,” said ACT Executive Director David Straus.

Rees began his TDM journey as a student bus driver for Utah State University. Today, his company (a division of Ford Mobility*) helps riders and agencies around the world with mission-critical transit operation software and GTFS data solutions, enabling bus and shuttle riders to enjoy a seamless travel experience with fixed route service, real-time on-demand microtransit, and vehicle tracking.

“When I founded Ride Systems in 2007 I knew there had to be a better way for students to know when the bus was arriving,” says Rees. “Since then, our innovative teams have been committed to finding solutions that improve lives through transportation. I am honored to receive an award which recognizes the importance of addressing transportation and mobility challenges, and look forward to continuing to work on improving the quality of life for riders in our communities.”

The winners represent a diverse cross-section of the industry, including private sector employers, city and state governments, service providers, consultants, and nonprofits.
